Ribbon Lattice Snowflake Knot

Based on the snowflake-making techniques found in Finnish Snowflakes, this satin Ribbon Snowflake Knot is ingeniously designed and is similar to the Snowflake Knot method above, but uses more ribbon strips for a more intricate effect.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate             Knot Size: About 12.5cm

Please be ready:

✧20 grosgrain ribbons 30cm long and 6mm wide

✧ Branding brush, lighter or hemming liquid

✧ Hot melt glue gun and glue stick

Sewing scissor  

✧Water-soluble marker pen

✧ Ruler or grid pad (recommended)

1. Seal the ends of all ribbons.

2. Follow steps 2 and 3 of 2~3 in Finnish Snowflake Knot to make 10 double-sided ribbons. Cut the ribbon in half into 20 ribbons 15cm long. Seal the edge of the end. Set aside 10 ribbons for later use.

3. Arrange 2 ribbon strips in a + shape, find the center and stick it with glue. Mark at the center point, and then make 1 mark on each side of the center point 1 3cm, 2 on each side, 4 marks in total.

4. Mark the center of the other 4 ribbons and place them vertically on top of the horizontal ribbons marked in step 3 and glue them together. Make 4 more marks on each new ribbon strip, ie 1 mark every 1.3cm on either side of the center point, 2 on each side.

5. Mark the center of the other 4 ribbons and place them horizontally on top of the vertical ribbons marked in step 4. Make a mark at the intersection in preparation for step 6 gluing.

6. Thread the horizontal ribbon over the vertical ribbon one up and down, gluing each intersection point.

7. Flip over and glue the ends of the horizontal and vertical ribbons at each corner following steps 9-10 for the Finnish Snowflake Knot.

8. Repeat step 7 for the other layer of horizontal ribbon and vertical ribbon.

9. Place the 10 ribbons next to - and follow steps 3-6 to make another snowflake of the same shape. Finally remove all with a little water

10. Follow the steps 12 and 13 of the Finnish Snowflake Knot to combine the two layers of snowflakes into one.
